ART AND CRAFTS
TO NURTURE THE SOUL
At school, artistic experience constantly accompanies students, making learning inwardly alive.
Here are the arts and crafts activities that are proposed in the second seven years, others will be added in the third.
Painting with watercolors or drawing freely is the ideal way for children to express their emotions.
Class after class, children go from a more instinctive phase to a more conscious one, starting from the pure combination of colors up to the representation and reproduction. They then acquire more technical elements, such as perspective, portrait and chiaroscuro which reflects the typical contrasts of the adolescent age. Painting and drawing are often an integral part of other subjects of study, such as history, geography, zoology, botany.
From kindergarten to eighth class, children experience heat first,
the softness and malleability of the wax, then moving on to the more demanding plasticity of the clay. The gradually modeled forms have to do with the study topics of the period; therefore we move from the animals protagonists of fairy tales, to crafts, to the human figure, to animals studied in zoology, to plants, up to geometric solids.
GARDENING, JOINERY, MANUAL WORK
Give shape or life with your own hands. Here is the meaning of these disciplines which, to varying degrees, accompany children from the very first classes. Developing the sense of touch, smell and good taste and practicing certain movements correctly increases the child’s vital forces and educates him to respect, care and ethical sense.
The children make various types of objects and artefacts in wood, from simple tools to tools that require great precision and care.
The purpose of teaching music is to accompany the growth of the perceptive and expressive abilities and the sensitivity of the soul.
At first the children experience simple melodies through song, recorder and lyre. In the following years, in addition to other instruments, musical writing and the study of the history of music were added.
Sometimes you get to form a class or school orchestra.
Eurythmy is an art of movement that makes music and words visible. Beats, rhythm, notes, intervals, melodies, sounds, metrics and inner atmosphere are expressed through movement, making both the physical and spiritual nature of the human being manifest.
Eurythmy, acting on the child as a whole, has a great rebalancing and healing power.
This experience is also experienced by all children throughout the school curriculum, with periodic performances of performances, concerts and eurythmy shows. Preparing a theatrical performance, entering into a character, harmonizing with others, develops self-confidence and courage.
